about me

I'm Karen, a lawyer-writer-photographer who has been shooting since about 1995. I'm from the Caribbean country of Trinidad & Tobago, but I live in Houston, Texas, with my English husband and American daughter. The images you see on this site are generally taken in and around our home, but I tend to travel a lot, so don't be alarmed if you occasionally see an image from a far away land.

I like: the ocean, mega bookstores, smiles between strangers and all things Trinidadian.
I dislike: feet, peanut butter, mean-spiritedness and the incorrect use of 'it's' and 'its.'


about my equipment

Unless I say otherwise, all of the images you see on this site were shot with my Nikon CoolPix, my Nikon D100 or my Nikon D200, depending on my whim. My lenses include an AF-S Nikkor 24-85mm zoom, an AF-S Vr-Nikkor 70-200mm zoom, a 60mm AF Micro Nikkor, a 100mm Nikon telephoto lens (Series E) and a 50mm Nikkor. These last two manual lenses are ancient, but they work like the devil.

This site is built and hosted on Expressions, which made the whole process far easier than it could have been.

I owe a lot to my husband Marcus, who took it upon himself to learn HTML so he could customize this site for me. If you knew how difficult I can be, you'd understand how impressive this is.

And of course, thanks go to my daughter Alex who, when it comes to being my go-to model, is truly patient beyond her years.
