Well, this is it, people: the last four random facts about me before picking a commenter at random to receive a framed Chookooloonks print. And can I just say ...
... thank God. Because I was seriously running out of random facts about me. It's strange: coming up with all of these have made me both simultaneously horrified that I'm going to be 41 and profoundly glad that I'm not going to be 42. Because I'm really tapped. So, to the final four! 4. Although I have flown all over the world (and frequently, for that matter), I'm a seriously nervous flyer. A particularly turbulent flight when I was about 12 pretty much ruined the experience of air travel for me forever, particularly take-offs and landings. So while I manage to appear calm when traveling, the truth is that I'm not truly at ease until I walk into the terminal building at the end of my flight. 3. I'm exactly 5'8' tall. I used to think this was the perfect height, but sometime within the past 15 years, I started wishing I was 5'10' -- and marrying a man who is 6'5' hasn't helped matters. Still, 5'8' isn't so bad. 2. When I lived in London, I lived a few doors down from a small, family-owned Italian restaurant -- a place that remains one of my favourites. The thing is, even though this restaurant is tiny, reasonably priced and in a small residential neighbourhood, it seems to attract all these famous people -- I suppose it's the type of place that celebrities can go and avoid the paparazzi. On three separate occasions, I sat next to Martin Clunes, Kylie Minogue (that night, the guy I was dating at the time melted into a giant, blubbering puddle) and Duran Duran (who, sadly, have not aged all that gracefully). Marcus and I still try to go there every time we visit London. And finally: 1. I am one of those people who believes that there is no such thing as a coincidence, and that everything happens for a reason. These days I seem to be going through a spate of really odd coincidences, rendering me rather annoyingly introspective. Woohoo! We made it! Now comment with abandon: remember, you don't have to leave a random fact, but leave a comment for a chance to receive a framed Chookooloonks print. Marcus will pick a commenter at random tomorrow morning, and I'll announce the winner during the day. Deadline to enter: 12:00 a.m. July 16th, Houston time. Good luck!
