1. Virginia southern accents sound very different from Texas southern accents. Virginia accents sound like mint juleps. Texas accents sound like oil wells.

2. Why do outhouses have that crescent moon cut-out in the door? What does a crescent moon have to do with the evacuation of one's bowels?

3. When is this bathroom of ours ever going to be done? I'm so tired of living in a construction zone, and it seems all I ever think about are bathrooms. See #2.

4. The Weepies' new album is pretty much awesome. Poor Alex and Marcus are about to get very, very sick of it.

5. Boy, I've forgotten a lot of my Spanish. And boy, do we need a beach vacation. I don't think these two thoughts are unrelated.

6. It is official: I will never have time to work out again until Alex is out of the house and on her own. The upside: I will be the hottest 60-year-old on the block. You know, if the cholesterol and morbid obesity don't get me first.

7. Oh sweet mother of Gumby, how I love the opportunity to photograph new places and people.

8. Seriously, when is this bathroom going to be done?
