This morning, when I logged on, I found the following e-mail waiting for me from Tracy:

'Funny, that I don't really know you (well only from your photoblog) but I read this from my favorite magazine (online and in print) and I thought of you. I wondered what your 'life is too short' list would contain.'

Thanks much for your e-mail, Tracy -- what a great journal prompt! So, without further ado, life's too short to:

- iron. Unless absolutely necessary.

- stay home. I say travel as much and as far away from home as financially possible.

- remain in an unhealthy relationship - romantic or otherwise.

- avoid splurging on yourself every once in a while. You get to define 'splurge.' For me, 'splurge' includes buying the occasional handbag, eating the occasional sushi, and letting the occasional small piece of dark chocolate melt slowly in my mouth.

- spend time delighting in the misfortunes of others, even if they're famous.

- let fear keep you from trying something new.

- worry about what two consenting adults do in the privacy of their own bedroom.

- care about your age.

- be shy about participating in the PostCard Swap 2008: The Love Edition.*

What's on your life's-too-short list?

* So far for the postcard swap, we have over 100 participants, from at least 10 countries, which makes me happy just thinking about it. I'll stop taking participants when I put up my post for January 16th (and I'll leave this one up until then), so if you're on the fence about joining in, time to hop off and take the plunge: come on or about February 14th, you'll be glad you did.
